A recent article in the Wall Street Journal talked about Community Supported Fisheries (or CSFs)-a way for folks to get fish that follows the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model where people buy a share of the produce, or in this case, buy a share of a fisherman’s catch. Read more here.
The article brings up an interesting point that local doesn’t always translate to ocean-friendly.
As an example, one of the fish that members of the CSF received this week was Atlantic Cod. Blue Ocean gives this fish a red ranking, in part due to low population levels.
