What Your Donation Supports
At Blue Ocean Institute, we seek to inspire a deeper connection with nature, in everyone touched by an ocean.
Led by conservation pioneer and MacArthur fellow Dr. Carl Safina, we work to create a more knowledgeable constituency for conservation. Through Dr. Safina’s books, other writings, public speaking, PBS television series, our educational programs and Fellows, we show how nature, community, the economy, and prospects for peace are all intertwined.
Blue Ocean Institute was founded in 2003, built on three decades of research, writing and policy work by Dr. Safina. The Institute is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization based at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences in Stony Brook, (Long Island) NY.
Blue Ocean Institute is recognized by Intelligent Philanthropy for our commitment to transparency.
