Flounder, Windowpane – U.S. Georges Bank/Gulf of Maine

Windowpane Flounder are a fast growing species of flatfish found in the Northwest Atlantic from the Gulf of St. Lawrence to Florida.

The abundance of Windowpane Flounder in the Georges Bank and Gulf of Maine is low and they are currently fished at too high a level.

Most Windowpane Flounder are caught with bottom trawls, which damage bottom habitats and also catch a variety of other depleted species.
