Some problems exist with this species' status or catch methods, or information is insufficient for evaluating. Flounder, Witch – Iceland

Witch Flounder is a species of flatfish found on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In Iceland, Witch Flounder is mostly found along the southern and southwest coasts and is rare in other parts of the country. These flatfish can live up to 30 years and have relatively slow growth rates.

The overall abundance of Witch Flounder in Iceland is at intermediate levels, but the population has declined in recent years and appears to be overfished.

Danish seine nets are mainly used to catch Icelandic Witch Flounder with catches spread evenly throughout the year. There is some bycatch of juvenile fish, but there are measures in place to reduce the bycatch in the fishery.
