Shrimp – Imported (Ebi)
The bottom trawls used to catch most imported shrimp damage benthic (seafloor) habitat and result in large amounts of bycatch, including commercially important fish species and endangered sea turtles.
Tropical shrimp trawl fisheries lack adequate management and enforcement. Imported shrimp species are short-lived and highly fecund (fertile), although information on their abundance is lacking.
