Snapper, Queen
Queen Snapper is a deep-water species that is becoming an increasingly important part of the US Caribbean fishery despite there being little information about their abundance. They are found from North Carolina to Brazil including the Gulf of Mexico and throughout the Caribbean.
Queen Snapper grow fast, mature early and probably live for around 8 years. Management of Queen Snapper is poor, but various fishery councils have taken recent steps to improve reporting and reduce bycatch of threatened species.
Queen Snapper are mostly caught using hook and line methods that cause minimal habitat damage.
