Sole, Dover – Pacific Ocean

Dover Sole is a long-lived flatfish caught by bottom trawling along the Pacific coast of the US and Canada. Dover Sole are found from the Bering Sea and eastern Aleutian Islands to central Baja California and are widespread throughout the Gulf of Alaska.

The abundance of Dover Sole varies between regions, but is healthy overall. Bottom trawling for Dover Sole takes place over sandy, muddy areas, which are more resilient to trawling compared with other habitats.

There is little bycatch associated with Dover Sole fisheries.
