Species has a combination of problems such as overfishing, high bycatch, and poor management.
Tautog

Tautog is a slow growing, long-lived fish found from Nova Scotia, Canada to Georgia. It is highly dependent on finding suitable habitat that provides protection from predators and a good food supply.

Most Tautog is caught in recreational fisheries, but some are commercially caught, often by bottom trawling which can cause substantial damage to the sea floor. Abundance of Tautog is low overall, and the U.S. population is considered overfished.
